About us

NVER is the Netherlands Association for European Law. It brings together lawyers, judges, academics, government officials, and other professionals from across the Netherlands with an interest in European Union law.

The association regularly organises conferences and other events. For students, NVER organises the EU law moot court competition and it awards a prize each year for the best master’s thesis in the area of EU law.

As one of the founding members of FIDE, NVER is part of an international network of European law associations. From May 2018 to November 2021 NVER was president of FIDE and in that capacity hosted the XXIX FIDE congress in The Hague.

NVER has more than 400 members. It was founded on 24 September 1960 in The Hague.

Its board members are Sybe de Vries (president), Belle Beems, Frederick Brouwer, Armin Cuyvers, Caroline ten Dam, Clara van Dam, Hanneke Luijendijk, Gijs van Middan, Edmon Oude Elferink, Charlotte Schillemans (secretary general), Herman Speyart and Clio Zois.
